Inner Peace in Divine Love

Mercy By The Sea, 167 Neck Road
Madison, CT 06443 United States

The season of Lent invites us to deepen our prayer, to prepare our hearts for the paschal mystery. This five week series is designed to enliven our relationship with God through scripture, creative prayer and faith-sharing. Participants will receive suggestions for daily meditation, developed by Michael Hansen, SJ in his book “The First Spiritual Exercises,” and commit to a regular time of private prayer.  Then, once a week, the group will come together to process and listen to the stirrings of the Spirit. This will become an extended retreat that co-exists with daily life, while grounding our awareness of God in our midst. The sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 9:30-11am:  February 20, 27, March 6, 13 and 20. The fee for the 5 week series is $75.00.

Spring’s invitation to a Grieving Heart

April 21 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

When we are grieving, the changing seasons can be a trigger for sadness. We see Winter turn to Spring and notice that our hearts are not responding to the new life all around us. How do we honor the pain of our loss while living with Spring’s invitation to life? This day of quiet and ritual invites us to embrace the both/and of life, where loss and love co-exist. Our time together will include the support of community, prayer, ritual and quiet - each valuable resources for healing a grieving heart.

Grief – our Ally in the Land of Loss

May 15 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

When a loved one dies, we are thrust into the painful, often lonely terrain of Loss. We may have been there before, but each visit has its own demands and pain. While our culture creates a sometimes uncomfortable privacy for those who grieve, this program seeks to offer the heart of Mercy and companions to share the road. This day of conversation and reflection will provide a roadmap for the journey, that includes tools, signposts and places of respite. Current bereavement theory and suggestions for conscious grieving will offer comfort and guidance to those with hurting hearts. Grief provides the navigation needed for those of us on the journey.
